# Workspace setup

> Set up a business workspace.

A workspace is the shared area for your organisation. Members, knowledge base files, usage, billing, and API keys all belong to the active workspace.

## Before inviting members

Set these first:

* workspace name and slug
* billing email
* plan and seat count
* member roles
* default assistant
* any knowledge base files members should be able to use

The workspace owner and admins can invite members.

## Roles

Business workspaces usually use owner, admin, and member roles.

Owners manage the workspace and billing. Admins manage day-to-day settings, members, and workspace content. Members use the app.

Use the least powerful role that lets someone do their job.

## Workspace switching

If a user belongs to more than one workspace, they can switch workspaces in the app. The active workspace controls the chat history, knowledge base, usage, and settings they see.
